What Customers Say About VueTrack
“Before VueTrack we were just eyeballing our inventory to see what was missing and what needed to be reordered. We were running out of stock or ended up with a lot of expired product. Now I can get our daily usage report, able to set par levels, and check on expiration dates. I can keep track of product borrowed from different departments hospital-wide and other outside hospitals. No running out of stock!”

How does scanning work?
VueTrack tracks items using existing manufacturer barcodes already printed on each product’s package. These barcodes provide a description of the item as well as its expiration date and lot number. VueTrack uses our extensive database of product barcodes to identify each item and capture the expiration date and lot number. It automatically adds this information to your personalized inventory database, along with the quantity of the item and other customizable characteristics.

What if there’s no barcode on a product?
Over 99% of products in diagnostic and interventional procedure labs have manufacturer barcodes printed on them. VueTrack generates its own barcodes for the few products that don’t already have them, so that you can track them with the same ease.

Why does VueTrack use barcodes rather than RFID tags?
VueTrack’s goal is to give clinical managers the power to control their inventories in the simplest, most cost-effective way possible. Right now, that means using barcodes, since almost all manufacturers already put them on their packaging. At the moment, RFID systems are impractical because they require that hospital materials management staff purchase special tags and affix them to each item they wish to track. However, as soon as more manufacturers start including RFID tags on their products, VueTrack will introduce its own dual-mode tracking system that can read both barcodes and RFID tags so that you can transition smoothly from one system to the next. By going with VueTrack, your department will be “future-proof” and ready to take advantage of the new technology as it matures.

Do we need to purchase any special equipment?
No. All that is required are existing hospital desktops or laptops with Internet access, in or near procedure rooms and inventory receiving areas. We provide barcode scanners as part of VueTrack’s installation.

Do we have to compile all of our inventory items and their descriptions when installing VueTrack?
No. VueTrack maintains and updates a growing products database with tens of thousands of items. This allows for a quick and easy installation process as well as no follow-up maintenance for our customers.

What if we receive a new item – how do we update our inventory?
You don’t have to do a thing. VueTrack proactively updates barcode information for the products used in our customers’ labs – whether it’s for new products coming to market or changes to existing products.

Can we track our inventory by procedure room?
Yes. VueTrack can be set up so that you can track any item entering or leaving a room. You can create par levels for each room and manage your inventory by room.

Can we track items that have been borrowed by another department?
Yes. VueTrack allows you to transfer products to another department by designating where and for what reason it is being moved. You can then run reports to monitor what’s been borrowed and whether it’s been returned, if necessary.

How is VueTrack priced?
VueTrack’s pricing structure consists of two components: a one-time initial setup fee and an annual subscription fee. Both are based on the number of VueTrack stations (any existing hospital desktop or laptop on which VueTrack’s tracking software is installed; typically, procedure rooms and inventory receiving areas). We provide the guaranteed lowest pricing in the industry, so that our solution pays for itself very quickly and continues to yield substantial savings. Please contact us to get a precise quote (info@vuemed.com or 1-888-948-0999).
